Bowen Therapy for Mother & Baby
_Bowenwork is a holistic manual therapy
that can benefit women before, during and after pregnancy. At a time
when pain meds are not the preferred option, this treatment approach
offers a pregnant woman hope for pain relief naturally. The technique
itself is a series of gentle moves performed over soft tissue
structures in precise locations followed by wait periods. The body
processes the sensory information during the wait periods. Muscular
tension decreases, blood flow improves, fascia restrictions release,
and the body’s autonomic nervous system shifts to rest, relax, and
heal.
Bowenwork for Pregnancy:
The process of birth can be complex for some moms and babies. A fast birth or prolonged labor, assisted birth using forceps or vacuum, cesarean section, all of these can affect babies in different ways. Also baby’s position in the uterus prior to birth can cause small abnormalities or hinder development of motor skills due to pressure on various parts of the baby’s body.
Bowen therapy is extremely effective at balancing the nervous system in babies. The result is a calm, happy baby that sleeps better. Babies respond especially well to Bowenwork and only 1-3 sessions are usually needed. Bowenwork on babies of all ages can be beneficial. Babies may be treated in the days immediately following birth if required.
